Final collection 2014
My second year university work started out
very slowly; growing unsatisfied with ideas quickly and becoming increasingly
despondent with the lack of inspiration and, by relation, the nonexistence of
any progress.
Luckily whilst
scrolling through the work of hundreds of artists online, I came across the
work of Nacho Carbonell.
Nacho Carbonell
Carbonell
creates amazing animalistic pieces of furniture, with almost primal
silhouettes. A perfect starting point for an anthropomorphic collection which I
had been hoping to create, but had not developed.
From this one
spark I was encouraged to advance from my previous work, which had mostly been
surface pattern based. I pushed my creativity with forms and surface texture,
even going as far as to incorporate resin into my previously ceramic based
portfolio.
Resin and Porcelain objects
The work I created for this project has
definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, giving me more confidence in this
new way of making and designing, which I had previously only brushed over.
From this work I feel I will be more
experimental and thoughtful in my consideration of form, specifically when
mixing it with surface decoration.
